Prometheus has just „passed“ a long boring trial and is visiting people again. He willingly
talks about the latest gossip at home, but also asks what happened to the thoughts of
his old friend Voltaire.
The rarely performed music of Ludwig van Beethoven‘s ballet, arranged for the six
instruments of the clarinet family, takes an entertaining journey through the world of
classical Olympus and the Age of Enlightenment in 75 minutes, subtly refreshed in the
context of today.

The Prague Clarinet Days project continues to present seemingly disparate and
contrasting works (2021 MOZART/AHO - Czech premiere), which nevertheless belong
together in their compositional quality and mastery of different eras. Both Beethoven‘s
Septet from the turn of the nineteenth century (1800), which the composer himself
later adapted for trio and piano due to its immense popularity, and Leoš Janáček‘s
Youth, which the composer described in a letter to Kamila Stösslová as „…such memories
from my youth…“, and whose premiere, paradoxically, was only successful for the
second time in Prague due to technical problems of the Brno clarinettist, have become
iconic repertoire not only for wind instruments. The cast of players in the ensembles
composed exclusively for this occasion guarantees a great listening experience: great
Czech performers, including students and graduates of the HAMU in Prague, as well
as foreign guests of the festival from Belgium, France and Germany will sit together at
the music stands. The diverse nationality and age composition of the artists reflects
the diversity of the European Union‘s cultural scene, and the AMU in Prague is thus part
of the celebration of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Final concert of the residents of the masterclasses
This traditional, audience favourite concert featuring the residents of the masterclasses
presents young, talented Czech and international musicians in collaboration with our great
pianists - Miloslava Machová and Daniel Wiesner. In addition to the classical repertoire
(W. A. Mozart, J. Brahms, J. V. Stamic, etc.), more and more often we hear modern compositions
by 20th century composers - Igor Stravinsky, Bohuslav Martinů, Paul Hindemith, Karel Husa
and others. The specific concert programme is always based on the current repertoire
of the participants of the project and each year it becomes a „living organism“ and an
energetic end to the whole festival.
